In the world of clairvoyance, a statement often comes up: “number 1, number 2” or “best medium in France”. However, behind these flattering titles lies a very different reality. These proclamations, intended to attract customers looking for answers, are in the majority of cases a commercial strategy, or even real false advertising from dubious practitioners in need of customers.

Contrary to what certain advertisements or psychic sites suggest, there is no official body responsible for designating “the best psychic” in France. no independent committee can guarantee the veracity of these assertions. “To say that we are number 1 or number 2 is a pure invention, a deception intended to manipulate poorly informed, vulnerable consumers…” People who consult psychics are, in most cases, in a fragile situation: bereavement, illness, romantic breakup, professional or financial difficulties. Faced with these delicate moments of life, certain practitioners with questionable skills do not hesitate to proclaim themselves “the best” to attract these clients in extremely fragile situations and in search of comfort. The law against false advertising
According to article L121-1 of the Consumer Code, a commercial practice is considered deceptive when it misleads consumers or is based on unfounded claims. Claiming to be “number 1 or number 2…” in an unregulated field could therefore fall under the scope of this law. Consumers who are victims of this type of advertising can report abuse to the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF), which has the power to investigate and sanction these practices.
The ethics charter: A bulwark against abuse
To respond to these abuses, INAD has established an ethical charter to which practitioners can voluntarily adhere. This document, although not legally binding, sets clear principles to govern the practice of clairvoyance and the divinatory arts. The objective is to distinguish serious practitioners from opportunists attracted by the lure of profit. “Clairvoyance is an art that is based on a relationship of trust. These deceptive practices permeate the entire profession.” INAD recommends that consumers be vigilant and report any suspicious practices to the DGCCRF.
The profession of divinatory arts remains a gray area where abusive practices thrive. While some clairvoyants claim a true vocation and respect their clients, others do not hesitate to use dishonest means to capture fragile clients.
The Moral and Professional Charter should not be a slogan: it is the key to respectful and trustworthy practice.
