Predict, clairvoyant*!
It is a drama which has been reviewed and which has taken the comic combination by moving towards the outcome of this file of charlatanism, fraud, clairvoyance and other djinn. Naïma F., in her thirties, daughter-mother of a baby born to an unknown father, appears in Koléa with heavy charges. Obviously she did not force the door of the mother of the family, captivated by the word clairvoyant! We opened the door, offered him milk, a cell phone, a gold necklace, milk powder without anyone forcing the absent victim to the stand. Naïma only had one display: “I was in my pram when an evil fairy struck me down, which is why I introduced myself as “mrabtiya”.
She didn’t shed a single tear but there was some laughter in the room! She knocks on the door and asks for Nadia. The hairdresser apologizes:
“I’m Malika, hairdresser!” replies the future victim of fraud in Naïma, originally from Mosta and whose vocation is to read the future of others, through the theft of objects and other hasty sleight of hand.
Malika, the hairdresser, explains to the PJ that this same woman, five feet tall and weighing less than forty kg, first had a glass of water. “And right after, she asked me for milk, coffee, I didn’t have any. I offered him powdered milk.
And that’s when she handed over a bag whose use and destination I didn’t know,” she said before the judge returned to the PV and read the rest which made her open the bag and take the eight thousand dinars, before “taking off the necklace which she had taken care to stuff in a bag, she took another bag and filled it with powdered milk, just after she asked me to give her the cell phone, my scarf before recommending that I only open the bag after she left my house. Once out, I noticed the deception and I followed her to the police station.”
“Six years in prison”, timidly blurted out the prosecutor who burst out laughing at the moment when Hadj Rabah Barik, this judge immune to these obscure practices since he successfully undertook the hajj, had challenged the detainee to say loud and clear, here, now the verdict even before the case was indicted: “I give you my word of honor as a sworn magistrate to grant you complete freedom, if you predict the verdict”, added the president who saw with pleasure that Naïma was incapable of providing the slightest prognosis.
And so, it was no surprise that he returned to the deliberations with a harsh verdict: “Eighteen months in prison for Naïma, guilty of fraud and charlatanism.” Y.S.
