The “Sofia AGHILAS” Scam Unveiled

INAD has warned the public against a new scam operating under the name “Sofia Aghilas”, a pseudo-medium who abuses the credulity of people in distress. This so-called clairvoyant uses fraudulent methods to convince her victims of her so-called exceptional occult power, thus extracting large sums from them.

Misleading Advertising and Hidden Identity Contrary to the legal obligations of the Consumer Code, which require advertisers to provide transparent and verifiable information (name, address, telephone number), Sofia AGHILAS does not provide any data allowing it to be identified. His Facebook page built on false promises and a spoofed photo (!?), making any traceability impossible. A Fraudulent Organization and Questionable Payments Behind this pseudo-medium, it is likely that a network of fraudsters is hidden, made up of grazers, false marabouts and false clairvoyants, who exploit the distress of the victims. To cover their tracks, they use Messenger as the only communication channel and demand payments via insecure applications, making any reimbursement almost impossible.

INAD and the DGCCRF Seized of the Case Faced with this obvious scam, the INAD intends to report “Sofia Aghilas” to the Directorate General for Competition, Consumption and Fraud Repression (DGCCRF). How to protect yourself from scammers? 1 - Verify the identity of the practitioner: a real professional displays his name, address and contact details. 2- Beware of untraceable payments: avoid transactions via dubious applications. 3- Avoid promises that are too good to be true: an honest medium or clairvoyant will never claim to be able to “solve everything” through “occult work”. … The INAD recalls that clairvoyance and the divinatory arts are disciplines that must be practiced with ethics and transparency.
